TIRUPATI accelerated to the front and set the pace on the inside, met the bid from TAHINI at the five-sixteenths pole, turned that rival away with a quarter mile remaining, led clear into the final furlong and held safely under right handed encouragement. ALPHA BELLA stalked the speed from inside, coaxed along the rail on the far turn, asked right handed at the top of the lane, closed the gap on the winner late but had to settle for second best. BIG HUG trailed along the inside around the first turn, continued at the back in the middle stages, ran into mild traffic behind SOPHISTICATE into the far turn, had one rival beat turning for home, angled out at the top of the stretch, showed late effort and got up for the show honors. SOPHISTICATE tracked in hand next to the rail, tipped out and bumped UNCORKED (AUS) at the five-sixteenths pole, chased between foes at the eighth pole and got edged for third. UNCORKED (AUS) sat off the pace in the two path, got bumped on both sides at the five-sixteenths pole, spun three wide into the lane and needed to find more in deep stretch. TAHINI was closest in pursuit early in the two path, put in a mild bid at the five-sixteenths pole, turned away by the winner at the quarter pole, chased within range to upper stretch, then weakened in the furlong grounds. DESERT RHAPSODY raced in range in the two path around the clubhouse turn, got bumped three deep at the five-sixteenths pole, fell back to last and tired down the lane.
