KING STEPHEN sat off the pace off the rail, angled in for the turn, shifted to the two path at the quarter pole, tipped out at the top of the lane, closed in fast under right handed urging, switched to the left hand for the last sixteenth, reeled in the top pair late and drove clear near the wire. WAR TO REMEMBER broke alertly to take the front, set the pace along the rail to the stretch, responded when challenged by HELICITY in the lane, drifted out and bumped that rival midstretch, dug in gamely through deep stretch but overhauled by the winner late. HELICITY stalked from inside, bid outside in upper stretch, got bumped by WAR TO REMEMBER midstretch and took a narrow lead, battled through deep stretch and finished a game third. DECAPO broke a step slow, traveled near the back early on, steadied at the seven-sixteenths pole, saved ground to the stretch, angled out in the drive and put in a late run. CHARLIE FOXTROT antsy in the gate, raced keenly in hand off the pace, rounded the bend three then four wide and failed to threaten in the stretch. THIRTY TWO CHUNK stalked two wide then found the rail, cut the corner into the lane and weakened. GOING VIRAL forwardly placed outside a rival, took the turn two then three wide, weakened in the lane and was not persevered with late. REDIAL was off slow to begin, trailed two wide and passed tired rivals. TEX tracked four then three deep in the early going, raced three, two, then three wide again around the bend and came up empty in the lane. CHIEF RENEGADE raced in range between rivals, dropped back on the turn in the two path and faded. THERE WAS A STEWARDS' INQUIRY INVOLVING THE STRETCH RUN BETWEEN WAR TO REMEMBER AND HELICITY. FOLLOWING A REVIEW, THE STEWARDS RULED IN A MAJORITY DECISION TO DISQUALIFY WAR TO REMEMBER FROM SECOND TO THIRD FOR DRIFTING OUT AND MAKING CONTACT WITH HELICITY, COSTING THAT RIVAL A CHANCE AT A BETTER PLACING.
