LONESOME STEW broke a step slow on the outside and trailed early, angled to the rail early on the turn, eased over to the two path still at the back, swung widest into the lane, rallied six deep into the final furlong and proved best in the end. TOM HORN vied for the lead between rivals then dueled from inside, ceded command approaching the turn, chased along the rail then in the two path, exited the bend in the three wide, tipped out at the top of the lane, challenged four deep with a furlong remaining and got outkicked by the winner. LOVESICK BLUES raced in range early, fought three deep for command around the turn, inched ahead in upper stretch, clung to a narrow lead with sixteenth remaining and yielded grudgingly. ON THE WHIM traveled near the back of the pack in the opening stages, entered the turn in the three path, moved in a bit then steered back out and came four wide into the stretch, bid five deep at the eighth pole but got outkicked by the top trio. FAST BUCK vied for the lead outside rivals then cleared briefly and angled to the inside for the turn, fought inside a pair of rivals around the bend, fought to midstretch and weakened in the final sixteenth. KINGS RIVER KNIGHT broke well and contested the pace inside a pair of rivals before taking a stalking position, moved up to challenge between rivals around the turn, fought to midstretch and weakened in the last sixteenth.
