MAXIMUN GOLD chased the top pair from inside, moved up to challenge at the half-mile pole, took over around the bend, showed the way with a pair of rivals to the outside coming into the stretch, drifted out a bit late and held gamely. NIKOLINA dueled from outside then vied three deep to the turn, lost touch with MAXIMUN GOLD briefly midway around the bend, re-bid three deep with a quarter mile remaining, fought three deep down the lane, brushed with DONTELLOURWIVES late and finished a game second. DONTTELLOURWIVES raced up close, traveled two into the turn, moved inside then between rivals at the quarter pole, fought between runners down the stretch, had the rider lose the crop past the sixteenth pole, then got bumped and put in tight approaching the wire. APPROVAL RATING came away well but became rank early and dropped back off the pace, trailed two wide through the turn and passed tired rivals. SEXZIE dueled inside a rival off the rail then between foes past the half-mile pole, could not keep up with the new leader midway around the bend, chased four into the lane and faded. ICONS ONLY showed early speed from outside then stalked the top trio up the backstretch, went four wide around the bend and weakened. THERE WAS A STEWARDS' INQUIRY INVOLVING THE STRETCH RUN. FOLLOWING A REVIEW, THE STEWARDS RULED IN A MAJORITY DECISION THAT ALTHOUGH MAXIMUN GOLD DID DRIFT OUT AND PUT DONTTELLOURWIVES IN TIGHT QUARTERS LATE, THE INCIDENT DID NOT WARRANT A DISQUALIFICATION.
