Footnotes
SPIRITUAL ADVISOR showed early speed three deep into the first turn then took a stalking position outside the top pair, remained off the inside through the far turn, bid three deep past the eighth pole, took a bump late, dug in and got up. MR. DISRESPECTFUL bumped outer rival leaving the gate, fought inside a pair of rivals for the early lead, inched ahead around the clubhouse turn, cleared on the backstretch, showed the way along the inside through the far turn, challenged by a pair of outer rivals past the eighth pole, drifted out and made contact with MINING DISTRICT late and yielded grudgingly to the winner. MINING DISTRICT fought between runners into the first turn, pressed the inner leader around the bend, chased up the backstretch and far turn, challenged between rivals in the final furlong, got bumped on both sides late and kept on gamely to the wire. KERRY GOLD bumped with outer rival chasing along the fence into the first turn, moved into range in the middle stages, continued to save ground through the far turn, tipped out into the lane, finished gamely inside the top trio late but lacked the needed final kick. KEEP MOVIN' ON got bumped leaving the gate then put in tight between rivals shortly after, settled in the two path off the pace, trailed up the backstretch, had once rival beat two then three wide on the far turn and flattened out. LIL RICHARDS BELLO bumped with inner rival entering the first turn, remained two wide to the second bend, cut to the inside turning for home and lacked further response. SPEED GRAZY trailed three wide early, passed a rival on the backstretch, trailed again three to four wide on the far turn and failed to make an impact. THERE WAS A STEWARDS' INQUIRY INVOLVING THE TOP THREE FINISHERS WHILE THE RIDER ABOARD MINING DISTRICT ALSO LODGED A CLAIM OF FOUL AGAINST THE RIDER ABOARD MR. DISRESPECTFUL FOR ALLEGED INTERFERENCE LATE IN THE RACE. FOLLOWING A REVIEW, IN A MAJORITY DECISION, THE STEWARDS DISQUALIFIED MR. DISRESPECTFUL FROM SECOND TO THIRD FOR DRIFTING OUT AND MAKING CONTACT WITH MINING DISTRICT WHICH COAST THAT RIVAL A CHANCE AT A BETTER PLACING.
