Footnotes
ATITLAN settled off the pace in the two path outside a rival, gained through the far turn, bid three deep with a furlong remaining, fought outside PACKS A WAHLOP late and dug in to overtake that rival in the final strides. PACKS A WAHLOP broke well, drifted out a bit across the dirt, steered to the inside stalking the pacesetter, was closest in pursuit up the backstretch, reeled in the leader on the far turn and loomed two wide turning for home, latched onto BALLADEER in upper stretch, seized control past the eighth pole, drifted out in the final furlong, led into the closing moments but got edged by the winner. DICEY MO CHARA (GB) traveled along the inside near the back of the pack, made progress two wide through the second bend, moved out in upper stretch, closed from outside but ran out of ground. BALLADEER stepped to the front and crossed over to the inside, opened up around the clubhouse turn, carried a comfortable yet shorter smaller lead into the far turn, showed the way from the fence with a diminishing advantage approaching the stretch, collared by PACKS A WAHLOP outside the eighth pole, relinquished the lead shortly after but stayed on well from inside to the wire. CITY EXILE (GB) reserved in the opening stages next to the fence, coaxed into range on the final turn continuing to save ground, moved off the fence but lacked room at the eighth pole, kept on once in the clear but lacked the needed late kick. MALTESE FALCON (IRE) trailed along the inside early on, gained ground around the far turn, moved off the rail in the lane and finished willingly between rivals.
