Footnotes
SOUTHERN GENTLEMAN cleared and crossed over, led along the inside through the turn and stayed clear down the stretch under urging. SIERRA SILVER stalked the lone leader up the backstretch, chased from inside then tipped two wide late on the bend, finished determinedly down the stretch but could only close the gap on the winner late. CHEEVER stalked off the inside, went three to four wide around the bend, finished willingly in the late stages and finished a clear third. VASA chased in the four path exiting the backstretch, angled down to the two path around the bend and failed to rally. LEGAL HEIR was closest in pursuit outside a rival to the turn, asked two to three wide on the bend and faded in the drive. PENALTY BOX lost his path early, tracked two wide then along the inside and tired in the lane. CATCH A BREEZE lacked early speed, lagged behind two wide then along the inside to the stretch, eased in the lane and walked off.
