KING OF GOSFORD (GB) raced outside a rival towards the rear in the opening stages, made progress still in the two path on the far turn, moved out at the top of the stretch, closed into range past the eight pole, reeled in the top pair late and got up in time. MI HERMANO RAMON tracked three then two wide around the clubhouse turn, fell out of range leaving the bend, cut into the margin past the half-mile pole, chased inside then eased out and took aim three wide entering the lane, bid outside CABO SPIRIT at the top of the stretch, fought head to head through the final furlong, lacked the needed final kick but was able to edge CABO SPIRIT for the place honors. CABO SPIRIT flashed early speed then took a stalking position on the inside behind GOLIAD, was closest in pursuit still on the fence before taking aim in the two path on the far turn, bid outside the leader entering the lane, quickly took over, put GOLIAD away while meeting the challenge from MI HERMANO RAMON, battled gamely to the wire but came up just short in the end. FORMIDABLE MAN raced off the pace outside a rival, continued two wide on the second bend, tipped out into the lane and finished well to earn a minor award. ATITLAN settled along the inside at the back, trailed into the far turn, moved off the fence and came three wide into the stretch, then came with a mild rally between rivals to improve position. SEAL TEAM (GB) raced near the back on the inside, lacked room from the five-sixteenths pole to the quarter pole, shifted to the two path late on the bend and showed late effort. ZIO JO tracked between rivals around the clubhouse turn, dropped off the pace, coaxed into range on the far turn in the two path and failed to summon the needed late kick in the final furlong. GOLIAD took control from CABO SPIRIT early, moved clear while traveling three then two wide, showed the way along the inside unchallenged to the quarter pole, confronted by CABO SPIRIT entering the lane, yielded in upper stretch and weakened. SEMINOLE CHIEF tracked next to the fence around the first turn, settled off the pace, saved ground to the stretch and had little left for the drive.
