Footnotes
CUPID'S CRUSADER stalked from outside, bid three wide on the turn, took over in upper stretch, got bumped by PRATCHETT at the eighth pole, drifted in and gave one back to PRATCHETT at the sixteenth pole and dug in to prevail. PRATCHETT showed the way under pressure early then cleared up the backstretch, led two then three wide while coming under threat from CUPID'S CRUSADER, drifted out and bumped that rival at the eighth pole, absorbed contact from that rival at the sixteenth pole, battled to the wire and came up just short. GENERAL JACKSON pressed from inside then chased past the half-mile pole, traveled along the rail then two wide on the turn, altered out from behind the top pair at the eight pole and finished willingly for a clear third. EL ONDEADO raced up close from off the rail, took the turn three wide and churned on down the lane. I AM AMADEO trailed two wide into the turn, stayed off the rail to the stretch and passed tired rivals. JAMES J. BRADDOCK chased from inside, lost ground on the turn and weakened. SPIRITIST traveled between rivals then off the rail out of range in the early going, navigated the turn four to five wide and failed to respond when called upon. THERE WAS A STEWARDS' INQUIRY INVOLVING THE STRETCH RUN BETWEEN THE TOP TWO FINISHERS. FOLLOWING A REVIEW, THE STEWARDS RULED THAT THERE WERE TWO POINTS OF CONTACT BETWEEN CUPID'S CRUSADER AND PRATCHETT BUT NEITHER INCIDENT WARRANTED A DISQUALIFICATION.
