Footnotes
J. B. BOOKS dropped back three deep on the clubhouse turn, advanced between rivals on the far turn, angled out at the quarter pole, reeled in the leader at the eighth pole and drove clear. DEVILNTHEBLUEGRAS raced in range on the inside, coaxed along on the backstretch, chased between into the far turn, was closest in pursuit in the two path coming into the stretch, moved to the inside and kept on to earn second. CHIEF JACKSON sent early and dueled from outside, cleared past the half-mile pole, asked right handed late on the far turn, clung to a short lead entering the final furlong, yielded to the winner midstretch, weakened in the late stages and managed to save the show third. BROTHER O' BRIEN bobbled badly leaving the gate, raced outside a rival at the back into the first turn, traveled in the second flight up the backstretch, raced along the rail then two wide on the far turn, cut the corner into the lane, tipped outside a rival at the eighth pole and improved position. AMERICAN EMPIRE raced in range three then four wide on the first turn, asked four then three wide on the far turn and never found the needed response. UPSTART YANKEE settled four then five wide early, continued well off the rail traveling four deep on the far turn and could not rally in the stretch run. MISCHIEF'S THIRSTY raced on the inside at the back, trailed through the far turn and passed tired rivals down the lane. ROISTER dueled from inside, lost touch with outer rival past the half-mile pole, dropped back on the far turn and had little left for the drive. BIG BET chased two then three wide early, weakened three then four wide on the far turn, eased in the lane and walked off.
