Footnotes
PROVENANCE showed the way inside a trio of rivals to the turn, edged clear around the bend, asked right-handed at the eight pole, switched to the left with a sixteenth remaining and held safely. PLAGARIST attended the pace four deep up the backstretch, lost ground and angled in on the turn, chased two wide into the lane, finished determinedly outside RIO GRANDE and edged that rival for second. RIO GRANDE was off a bit slow to begin, stalked behind the leader, coaxed along early on the turn but had to pause when lacking room from the three-eighths pole to the five-sixteenths marker, took aim at his stablemate in the two path turning for home, finished willingly down the lane and lost second. ARMY MAN pressed three deep between rivals up the backstretch, could not keep up with the winner chased three then four wide around the bend, bumped with inner rival at the top of the stretch and weakened in the furlong grounds. WORK pressed between rivals to the turn, chased between rivals around the bend, bumped with ARMY MAN at the three-sixteenths pole and weakened. AMERICAN KING was off a couple lengths slow, trailed two wide into the turn, found the rail quickly and failed to get involved.
