GOLD PHOENIX (IRE) trailed widest leaving the dirt crossing then steered across to the inside, raced inside a rival still at the back into the far turn, roused in the two path with a quarter mile left to run, challenged three deep at the eighth pole, took the lead with a sixteenth remaining and drove clear. STAY HOT unhurried in the early stages in the two path, traveled outside GOLD PHOENIX (IRE) at the rear leaving the backstretch, rounded the far turn two then three wide, angled widest at the top of the lane, closed well and edged SPYCATCHER for the place honors. SPYCATCHER was closest in pursuit of the lone leader through the opening stages, closed in while easing off the rail around the far turn, spun three wide into the lane, took over in upper stretch but got outkicked by the top pair in the last sixteenth. MONDEGO (GB) reserved and taken to the rail in the early going, chased outside a rival into the far turn, moved out around the bend, came four wide into the stretch, pursued within striking distance in the final furlong but finished evenly late. BALLADEER jumped out to the front and opened up a comfortable lead next to the fence, remained well clear up the backstretch, showed the way with a rapidly diminishing lead through the far turn, relinquished command in upper stretch and weakened in the late stages. DICEY MO CHARA (GB) settled in the two path, drew closer two then three wide on the far turn but weakened in the drive. RASTAMAN VIBE settled along the inside, moved into range on the far turn, cut the corner into the stretch and flattened out in the final furlong.
