IMAGINATION broke in and brushed, tracked widest up the backstretch, raced in the six path into the turn, angled in and chased four wide into the stretch, took contact from inner rival in upper stretch, rallied under left-handed urging while drifting in a bit, collared STRAIGHT NO CHASER at the sixteenth pole and drove clear. DR. VENKMAN stalked the speed from inside into and around the turn, tipped out at the top of the lane, angled inside the leader midstretch, then finished gamely and earned the place honors. STRAIGHT NO CHASER showed the way early under pressure from AWESOME RHYTHM, cleared that rival midway around the turn, drifted off the fence while clear to midstretch, collared by IMAGINATION with a sixteenth remaining and yielded to the top pair late. SMOOTH CRUISEIN tracked outside a rival in the early going, asked two wide through the turn, lacked the needed response in the lane but managed to earn a minor award. AWESOME RHYTHM pressed the leader from outside, could not keep pace with STRAIGHT NO CHASER midway around the bend, chased between rivals in the two path to the stretch, drifted out and bumped in upper stretch and weakened. WOUND UP raced up close four deep, went five wide into the turn, angled to the three path around the bend, got bumped between rivals in upper stretch and also weakened. MBAGNICK (CHI) brushed leaving the gate, trailed up the backstretch, angled to the rail for the turn, cut the corner into the lane and never threatened. SPEED BOAT BEACH attended the pace three deep in the early going, started to weaken four then three wide around the bend and came up empty in the lane.
