Footnotes
BEAR'S BOARD led along the rail into the first turn then lost command between rivals around the bend, put a head in front with rivals on both sides on the backstretch, came under a ride on the far turn, showed the way in the two path with SPRINGLINE alongside into the lane, drifted out steadily despite right handed encouragement and held gamely to the wire. CAN'T SAY THAT tucked inside at the back, ridden along in the middle stages, saved ground through the far turn, moved off the fence in the drive, came with a late run and got up for second but ran out of ground to overtake the winner. SPRINGLINE raced up close in the two path into the first turn then three deep around the bend, vied with inner pair up the backstretch, fought outside BEAR'S BOARD through the far turn, hounded the winner down the stretch while getting floated out, kept on gamely to the wire and got nailed for second. BITTER TRUTH settled in the three path, lost ground in the middle stages, navigated the far turn three then two wide, moved back out in the lane, showed late effort but was not enough. LOVELY MEDAGLIA unhurried from inside, came under a ride on the far turn, tipped out into the stretch, chased within striking distance into the final furlong but finished evenly late. PHOTOGENIC chased along the rail into the first turn then went up to take control around the bend, lost the lead vying with outer pair on the backstretch, yielded to outer rivals between the five-sixteenths and quarter pole and weakened in the lane. THERE WAS AN INQUIRY INVOLVING BEAR'S BOARD AND SPRINGLINE IN THE STRETCH. FOLLOWING A REVIEW, THE STEWARDS RULED IN A MAJORITY DECISION THAT ALTHOUGH BEAR'S BOARD DID DRIFT OUT IT DID NOT COST SPRINGLINE A CHANCE AT A BETTER PLACING.
