Footnotes
THE SHILLELAGH showed brief speed four deep then stalked off the inside, ran into traffic at the quarter pole, tipped out into the clear in upper stretch, challenged into the final sixteenth and drove clear. MILES FINCH bobbled shortly after the start, moved inside to stalk the pace, looked to bid from the fence but lacked room from upper stretch to the sixteenth pole and kept on gamely to gain second once in the clear. MR. MACHUPICCHU away quickly from the gate, drifted a bit and took hold once crossing back onto the turf, vied inside a trio of rivals then dueled for command inside CHARMZ AWAY, inched ahead on the turn, cleared into the lane, drifted inward in upper stretch, yielded late and got edged for second. GIANT LUTHER broke inward, ran a bit awkwardly over the dirt crossing, saved ground along the rail, moved out a bit in the lane and finished evenly late. ONE SMOKIN DUDE broke inward as well, traveled on the inside at the back, continued off the pace to the stretch, asked left handed and improved position. CHARMZ AWAY brushed outer rival at the start, vied between rivals then dueled from outside in the early going, kept the pressure on the leader through the turn, drifted out into the lane and weakened. MARC THE MONEY MAN bothered by DAY AT THE TRACK crossing the dirt, sat off the pace outside a rival, swung out leaving the bend and lacked a rally. DAY AT THE TRACK bobbled crossing surfaces and had the rider lose an iron for a bit before regaining his footing, trailed two wide into the turn, found the rail around the bend and was never a factor. SHANAPLAN brushed leaving the gate, vied three deep up the backstretch, chased the top pair three then four wide on the turn and faded down the lane.
