DEVIL BE ME well placed outside the top pair early, bid three deep a quarter mile out, fought four in the four path turning for home, kicked clear from inner rivals at the eighth pole and padded the winning margin the final sixteenth. CLAMPETT dueled for the lead from outside, inched ahead at the quarter pole, vied between in the three path entering the lane, lost command in upper stretch, failed to kick on with the leader approaching the eighth pole but finished determinedly in tandem with DISKO TRIBUTE to hold off that rival for second. DISKO TRIBUTE fought inside CLAMPETT for early supremacy, battled along the rail inside rivals leaving the turn, yielded to the new leader in upper stretch and was outdueled by CLAMPETT for the place honors late. RIVOLI coaxed along tracking well off the rail, went five wide into the turn, angled over to the two path around the bend, steered back out in upper stretch and lacked a rally. READY TO POUNCE stalked the leading pair from the rail and lacked a response when called upon.
