MIDDLEBURG stepped to the front from the rail position, opened up around the clubhouse turn, held a diminished lead into the far turn, remained clear to the lane, set down and asked right handed in upper stretch, challenged by the runner-up late but held that rival at bay. MYSTERIOUS HUSBAND got bumped on both sides leaving the gate, stalked between then moved into the two path for the clubhouse turn, dropped off the pace around that bend, moved to with striking distance on the far turn, was closest in pursuit two wide entering the lane, drifted inward in upper stretch, drew alongside MIDDLEBURG in the final sixteenth, got floated out a bit by that rival while gaining but ran out of time. ROSTOVSKY got bumped between rivals shortly after the start, moved inside trailing early, moved off the fence on the backstretch, ran two then three wide around the far turn and finished evenly late. DAIRAGO (FR) brushed with outer rival and tossed his head early, continued to be a bit rank near the inside first time through the stretch, had to steady when put in tight along the rail by TRAVAIL on the first turn, chased on the inside then two wide around the far turn, got bumped and crowded between rivals at the top of the lane and kept on trying for a minor award. SPEARFISH broke in and bumped rival, settled three then two wide around the clubhouse turn, saved ground around the second bend, tipped out and bumped at the top of the stretch and failed to threaten in the final furlong. TRAVAIL was closest in pursuit of the leader in the two path, dropped out of range on the first turn, crept closer in the middle stages, followed the winner along the rail on the second bend and weakened in the drive. IMAGINEER got bumped on both sides in the beginning, pulled while reserved shortly after, drifted out into the first turn then tucked inside at the back, chased two then three wide on the far turn and was never a factor.
