Footnotes
COACH CASE was well placed just off the pace on the inside, moved to the two path while asked outside the quarter-pole, took the lead in upper stretch, responded well to the challenge of the runner-up in the final furlong, drifted out under a left-handed crop late and just held under strong urging. SIR OSCAR saved ground while reserved off the pace, was given his cue outside the quarter-pole, swung out to the four path into upper stretch, gained to make a bid near the eighth-pole, battled outside of the winner in the final furlong and just missed while able to get the place. SPIRIT OF THE LAW went around the first turn in the two path, settled towards the rear, was roused in the two path on the far turn, dropped to the rail late on that bend, gained into upper stretch and finished willingly for the show. MOE EIGHTY EIGHT raced in the three path on the first turn, settled off the pace, was asked in the two path on the far turn, moved to the three then four path late on that bend, turned into upper stretch in the six path, bumped solidly with an opponent inside the three-sixteenths pole and lacked the needed kick. SIR LAWRENCE bumped with a rival early, moved in nearing the first turn, traveled around that bend in the two path, settled off the pace, was roused in the two then three path on the far turn, moved out around the furlong marker, dropped in late and improved position. ENGLISH CASTLE went to the front, showed the way while inside to the two path, was asked on the far turn, lost the advantage to the winner before the three-sixteenths pole and tired. HELLO NEWMAN dropped in into the first turn, raced in the two path on that bend, settled off the pace, was asked while moving from the three path to the five path on the far turn, came into upper stretch in the seven path and failed to threaten. BLUE PILL was off a step slow, went around the first turn in the two then three path, settled towards the back, was roused in the three to four path on the far turn and lacked the needed response. SHAKEITFORTHEBIRD stalked the pace on the outside in the two to three path, was asked on the far turn, chased into upper stretch and tired. ZEUS LIGHTNING broke a step slow, bumped with a rival early, dropped from the five path to the three path on the first turn, settled on the outside with some cover then was removed from cover near the half-mile pole, was roused in the four path on the far turn, moved to the five then six path late on that bend and came up empty then pulled up in heat-distress post race but was walked off. MISSION HILL was hustled from the gate, raced in the four path on the first turn, settled off the pace, was asked in the four then three path on the far turn, spun into upper stretch in the five path and failed to respond. THE SAINT was a bit awkwardly into stride, rounded the first turn in the two path, settled at the rear, moved from the rail to the three path while urged along on the far turn, dropped to the two path late on that bend and was no factor.
