STRATEGIC FOCUS struck the near side stall at the start, settled tracking the front just off the inside from just off the pace, remained patiently handled until nearing the quarter pole and advanced to latch on the leader and his barn mate at that station, got floated out four to five wide into upper stretch by that rival, got shown a right handed crop straightened away and was on his wrong lead and seized narrow command, came under right handed encouragement and shied in outside the eighth pole getting back on his right lead and was tapped once more right handed just inside the eighth pole and shied in again a bit more severely and greenly, then dug in safely in front and was geared down in the late stages to the wire. MALARCHUK coaxed from the gate, showed the way in hand along the inside through the first turn and down the backstretch and then just off the inside through the far turn coming under coaxing near the quarter pole when under challenge from his barn mate to the outside, swung three to four wide into upper stretch floating STRATEGIC FOCUS out a path, got headed for the front just inside three-sixteenths to go, then altered out when his barn mate shied inwards just inside the eighth pole, ran on willingly to the finish to secure the place honors, well clear of the rest. WAITLIST saved ground in pursuit from mid pack, came under encouragement at the five-sixteenths, angled five wide into upper stretch and improved position to the finish. FRIZZANTE hustled from the gate, jostled with DREAMLIKE after the start when under pressure from the outside by CAPITOL HILL, raced four then three wide through the first turn before chasing two to three wide down the backstretch and through the far turn coming under coaxing at the three-eighths, spun just off the inside into upper stretch and passed tired rivals. DREAMLIKE coaxed from the start, jostled with the aforementioned foe after the start when under pressure from CAPITOL HILL tucking inwards, raced three then two wide through the first turn, chased two to three wide under a ride from the seven-sixteenths, continued two to three wide for home and tired. UNBRIDLED BOMBER chased just off the inside and then along the inside under a ride from the seven-sixteenths, took the inside route into upper stretch and tired. SEEKING UNITY broke out at the start, raced four then three wide through the first turn, chased three wide coming under encouragement at the three-eighths pole, went nine wide into upper stretch and tired. CAPITOL HILL raced three wide through the opening bend, chased three to four wide coming under urging three furlongs out, went six wide into upper stretch and tired. GOOD SKATE lunged at the break brushing the near side stall at the start, chased two to three wide forwardly placed in closest aim of the leader, came under a ride nearing the quarter pole in the midst of fading and went seven wide into upper stretch, then faltered in the drive. COSTA TERRA chased three to four wide under urging from the seven-sixteenths, went nine to ten wide into upper stretch, made no impact. There was a Stewards' Inquiry into the stretch run focusing on STRATEGIC FOCUS and MALARCHUK. After review, STRATEGIC FOCUS was disqualified from first and placed second having been deemed to have interfered with MALARCHUK before the race was declared official.
