GASOLINE was recalcitrant in the post parade, saved ground on the first turn, was well placed just off the pace, angled from the rail to the four path on the far turn, gained to make a bid under urging near the five-sixteenths pole, spun into the stretch in the six path then quickly drifted out while taking the lead, maintained a narrow advantage while well out in the track past the eighth-pole, drifted in some while headed in the final furlong, fought on well to the finish and prevailed under strong urging. MANTA REY was fractious in the gate and tossed his head at the start then was off slow, spotted the front a few lengths, angled at the rear, saved ground on the first turn, was coaxed along at the back, came under stronger encouragement late on the backstretch, gained inside on the far turn, cut the corner while rallying into the stretch, made a bid inside the three-sixteenths pole, fought on even terms for the lead into the final furlong, led narrowly into the final sixteenth, battled with the winner to the finish and missed while clear for the place. SUERTE was hustled to the front, dropped from the three path to the two path early on the first turn, showed the way down the backstretch, was asked under threat in the two then three path on the far turn, lost the advantage to the winner outside the quarter-pole, spun into the stretch in the five path then quickly drifted out, fought with the top two into the final furlong and weakened but was well clear for the show. EMPTY TOMB was tough to handle in post parade then had his saddle adjusted behind the gate, raced in the four then three path on the first turn, stalked the pace on the outside, was roused outside the half-mile pole, dropped back at the seven-sixteenths pole, went around the far turn in the three then four path while retreating and faltered. O P FIRECRACKER rounded the first turn in the two path, settled off the pace, was roused late on the backstretch, came up empty in the three then two path on the far turn and faltered then was eased in the final furlong but walked off.
