BACKSTRETCH ROSE dropped from the three path to the rail early on the first turn, settled off the pace, rallied while angling from the two path to the four path on the far turn, gained in the five path into the stretch, took the lead near the three-sixteenths pole, battled with two rivals until near the furlong marker and drew away under steady urging. FOXY CARA was hustled to the front, showed the way in the two path, was asked under threat on the far turn, lost the advantage into upper stretch, battled with foes under a drive until near the eighth-pole, kept on well in pursuit of the clear winner in the final furlong and narrowly earned the place. FLORIDA FLOWER broke out then was corrected by the rider, tracked the pace on the outside in the three path, chased on the far turn, made a bid near the five-sixteenths pole, spun into the stretch in the four path while on even terms for the front, battled under a drive into the final furlong and proved no match for the winner then just missed the place but earned the show. FIVE TO TWO made light contact with a foe at the start, was well placed on the inside, moved to the two path under urging outside the five-sixteenths pole, swung out to the six path into upper stretch, chased into the final furlong and missed the trifecta. SANTAGATA stumbled at the start but broke with the body of the field, went around the first turn in the two then three path, angled out with about six furlongs to run, settled off the pace, was roused late on the backstretch, dropped from the four path to the two path on the final turn, was put to the crop in upper stretch and failed to threaten. TECA broke in and hit the gate hard, shifted from the three path to the four path early on the first turn, settled on the outside, was urged along late on the backstretch, went around the far turn in the four then five path, spun into the stretch in the six path and had nothing left. DOLCE SERA steadied briefly along the rail when a foe crossed in front early on the first turn, moved out later on that bend then reached the five path before the seven-eighths pole, settled at the rear on the outside, angled in with a half-mile to run, shifted from the three path to the five path on the final turn, spun into the stretch in the seven path and capitulated.
