Footnotes
GEORGIA MAGIC was quickly corrected with the left-rein while breaking out a bit at the start, rounded the first turn in the two path, moved up between horses with six furlongs to run, held a brief lead passing the eleven-sixteenths pole then prompted the pace on the outside, vied in the three path while on even terms for the advantage going around the far turn, took a short lead into upper stretch then was put to a drive, shook off a rival inside the furlong marker and proved best under strong urging. BESTFRIEND ROCKET hit the inside of the gate at the start, bumped very hard with HANDSOME PANTS twice early, saved ground while settling off the pace, moved to the two path while roused inside the three-eighths pole, swung out to the five path into the stretch and finished willingly for the place. JOEY MUSCLES went to the front on the inside, lost the lead briefly nearing the eleven-sixteenths pole then regained the advantage, vied inside on the far turn, was asked near the quarter-pole, lost the lead into upper stretch, dropped back into the final furlong and weakened but just held the show. HANDSOME PANTS bumped very hard twice with foes on both sides early and was bounced around, went around the first turn in the two path, settled off the pace, started the far turn in the two path, was asked while moving to the three then four path later on that bend, turned into upper stretch under a drive, chased while remaining on his inside lead until the sixteenth-pole, swapped to the proper lead at that point and lacked the needed kick then just missed the show. JUST LICORICE was hustled from the gate, traveled around the opening bend in the three path, was urged along on the backstretch, chased in the five path on the far turn, spun into the stretch in the six path and came up empty. CONQUERING CAT bumped twice very hard with HANDOME PANTS early, moved from the three path to the four path early on the first turn, was urged along passing the five-eighths pole, went around most of the far turn in the three path then dropped to the two path and failed to respond. ART FAIR was fractious in the gate, rounded the first turn in the four path, prompted then tracked the pace on the outside, chased in the four path on the far turn, dropped back late on that bend and faltered.
