MAXALUNA coaxed from the gate, prompted the leader briefly along the inside before easing off to tip two then three wide in closest aim down the backstretch, advanced once more in tandem with D'S A ROCK into the turn, seized command just inside the seven-sixteenths and came under pressure from that rival to the outside, yielded the front nearing the quarter pole and spun just off the inside into upper stretch, came again rallying to take back the front with three-sixteenths remaining, then dug in and inched away before holding sway kept to task to the wire. LADY ORIENT coaxed from the start, chased four to five paths off the inside down the backstretch, tucked three wide into the turn coming under a ride at the seven-sixteenths, angled five wide into upper stretch, offered up a mild kick to secure the place honors.
