Footnotes
SAILAWAY was hustled to the front, showed the way in the two path while inside of a foe, vied on even terms for the lead on the far turn, responded well when asked near the quarter-pole, came under a right-handed crop in upper stretch, drifted out while edging clear in the final furlong and proved best under steady urging. SPIRIT OF ESTHER stumbled at the start then bumped with an opponent, was forced out early, angled from the five path to the rail early on the first turn, was well placed down the backstretch, moved from the inside to the four path while asked on the far turn, gained in the five path into the stretch, made an outside bid at the three-sixteenths pole, battled outside of the winner into the final furlong and was outfinished while clear for the place. CAROLINA SMOKESHOW was hustled from the gate, showed speed between horses in the three path on the first turn, prompted the pace on the outside, turned up the pressure on the leader while in the three path on the far turn, came under a right-handed crop outside the quarter-pole, switched to a left-handed crop into upper stretch, was taken in hand briefly while off heels inside the three-sixteenths pole, dropped back into the final furlong and weakened but was well clear for the show. ROCK HARBOR broke out at the start then was fanned further out early, moved from the six path to the five path on the first turn, settled nicely off the pace, was roused outside the half-mile pole, went around the far turn in the three then four path, was driven into the stretch in the six path and lacked the needed response. BROOKLYN DANTZ broke out at the start, bumped with a foe early, raced in the three path on the first turn, settled near the back, was urged along late on the backstretch, rounded most of the far turn in the two path then shifted to the four path, turned into the stretch in the seven path then drifted in and failed to respond. THAT'STHEFACTJACK bumped with rivals on both sides at the start, bumped with another foe early, went around the first turn in the four path, was urged along towards the rear on the backstretch, moved from the three path to the five path on the far turn, dropped to the four path into the stretch then drifted further in and was no factor. HANDLE ON YOU dropped back in the two path on the first turn, was urged along near the rear, saved ground on the far turn and showed little. BLUE EYED SCOUT came out at the start then bumped with a foe, showed speed in the four path while outside of two rivals on the first turn, dropped off the pace inside the three-quarter pole, came up empty leaving the backstretch, retreated in the five then six path on the far turn and faltered then was eased but walked off.
