Footnotes
MERCY WARREN went to the front, showed the way while well rated inside of a foe in the two path, responded well when asked turning into upper stretch, extended the advantage under a strong hand-ride into the final furlong, was given one pop of a left-handed crop outside the sixteenth-pole then was placed back under a strong hand-ride to the finish while much the best. GONE AND FORGOTTEN was well placed just off the pace on the inside, cut the corner while asked at the top of the stretch, pursued the winner in the drive and was no match while well clear for the place. IT TAKES HEART tossed her head at the start and was last to commence, saved ground on the first turn, moved off the rail entering the backstretch, settled off the pace, was asked outside the half-mile pole, went around most of the far turn in the two path, shifted to the three then four path late on that bend, came out to the six path into upper stretch and lacked the needed response while best of the rest. ALTERED SHOT raced in the three path on the first turn, prompted the pace on the outside, was asked near the seven-sixteenths pole, vied in the three path on the far turn, dropped back nearing the quarter-pole, shifted to the two path into the stretch and tired then moved out around the sixteenth-pole while safely securing the last spot in the superfecta. APRIL ANTICS rounded the first turn in the two path, dropped to the rail with about six furlongs to run, settled at the back, was roused while inside on the far turn and failed to respond. SPEAK SOFTLY went around most of the first turn in the two path then shifted to the three path, settled on the outside, ranged up leaving the backstretch, stalked in the four path on the far turn, was asked while in perfect striking range at the quarter-pole, had the rider pull her up in upper stretch and was transported off the track via equine ambulance.
