Footnotes
IRON MAX broke a bit slow, went around the first turn in the two path, was reserved towards the back on the outside but with cover, was removed from cover at the half-mile pole then began to advance on the outside, was roused in the three path while rallying on the turn, chased in the four path into the stretch, closed well to get the lead outside the sixteenth-pole, brushed with a foe near that pole and prevailed under strong urging. WILLINTORISKITALL tracked the pace on the outside in the two path, engaged the leader on the far turn, took a short advantage under a drive in upper stretch, lost the advantage to the winner outside the sixteenth-pole, brushed with foes on both sides while between horses into the final sixteenth, fought on well to the finish but missed while narrowly able to get the place. GENE AND JUDE broke in and brushed the gate at the start, went to the front, showed the way on the inside, was asked outside the quarter-pole, lost the advantage to the winner in upper stretch, fought on determinedly into the final sixteenth, brushed with a foe at that point, battled to the finish and just missed the place while able to get the show. HAMILTON'S WAY settled on the inside, was roused on the far turn, shifted to the two path outside the quarter-pole then spun three wide into the stretch, moved out some more in the drive and improved to get the last spot in the superfecta. BACK IN THE SADDLE bumped with a rival at the start, settled in the two path, raced between foes leaving the backstretch, was roused in the two path on the far turn, chased under a drive in the stretch and lacked the needed kick. FAYETTE SPIRIT dropped back early, saved ground on the first turn, was urged along at the rear on the backstretch, went around the far turn in the two then three path, turned into upper stretch under a drive and failed to threaten. JHIRSCH bumped with a foe at the start, tucked in while taken under a snug hold, was reserved on the inside, came under some urging on the far turn, was put to a drive in upper stretch and lacked the needed response. DESPERATE PROPOSAL broke a step slow, raced in the three path on the first turn, settled on the outside, came under urging late on the backstretch, went around most of the far turn in the two path, shifted to the three then four path later on that bend and failed to rally. SKY MASTERSON was taken under a tight hold early, remained under a tight hold in the two path while between foes on the first turn, was reserved towards the rear, dropped back while inside on the far turn and failed to respond.
