Footnotes
VALENZAN DAY was hustled from the gate, dropped from the three path to the two path on the first turn, was well placed just off the pace in third position, moved out with five furlongs to run, was given his cue in the three path on the far turn, rallied to the lead at the quarter-pole, bumped with WINTER'S GHOST in upper stretch, shook off that foe into the final furlong and drew clear under steady urging. HE'S GOT THIS moved from the four path to the three path on the first turn, settled on the outside, angled in near the eleven-sixteenths pole, closed on the leader while urged along in the two then three path on the far turn, swung out to the six path while gaining into the stretch, pursued the winner while outside in the drive and proved no match but earned the place. WINTER'S GHOST was hustled from the gate then brushed with an opponent, dropped from the five path to the three path on the first turn, tracked the pace on the outside, engaged the leader in the two path on the far turn, took the advantage outside the five-sixteenths pole, was headed by the winner at the quarter-pole, bumped with that foe in upper stretch, dropped back into the final furlong and weakened. TIBERIUS MERCURIUS stumbled at the start and was off a bit slow, raced inside early on the first turn, steadied lightly off heels then moved to the two path later on that bend, was urged along on the backstretch, traveled around the far turn in the three path, was guided out near the furlong marker then drifted further out and lacked the needed response. MIDNIGHT TROUBLE brushed with rivals on both sides just after the start then dropped back in tight between horses, dropped from the three path to the rail on the first turn, settled near the back of the field, was roused nearing the half-mile pole, saved ground on the far turn and failed to threaten. CENTAVO bobbled at the start then was hustled, raced inside to the two path on the first turn, settled outside on the backstretch, was urged along passing the nine-sixteenths pole, went around the far turn in the four path and came up empty. WHENLOVETAKESOVER broke out and hit the gate then brushed with a foe, tossed his head while going to the front on the first turn, moved from the four path to the two path on that bend, showed the way down the backstretch, vied inside on the far turn, lost the advantage outside the five-sixteenths pole and stopped.
