Footnotes
CARMEL COAST broke in at the start under hustling, advanced to take over the front six furlongs from home and showed the way four paths off the inside down the backstretch, continued four wide through the turn and into upper stretch and was set down at that juncture, drew off under a drive and was geared down inside the final sixteenth to the finish to prevail comfortably on the wire. LOVELY CHRISTINA broke out at the start, led briefly early on until displaced by the top one six furlongs out, chased six then five wide in closest aim of the leader, swung five to six wide into upper stretch, ran on to chase the winner home well clear of the rest and along second best. ESSENTIAL COFFEE broke out at the start, chased six then five wide coming under encouragement at the five-sixteenths, swung five wide for home, weakened while along for the show honors. MEMORIZED coaxed from the gate, chased three wide advancing with a bid a half a mile from home, moved into prominence three then two wide through the turn and came under urging at the five-sixteenths, spun just off the inside into upper stretch, weakened in the final furlong. SO VAIN broke out at the start, chased five then four wide coming under coaxing three furlongs out, swung four wide for home and tired. KAREY a bit fractious in the gate prior to the start, chased three then two wide coming under urging at the seven-sixteenths, angled five wide for home and made no impact. EVERYTIMEITHINKOFU fractious in the gate prior to the start, broke in at the break, chased just off the inside and then along the inside coming under a ride at the three-eighths pole, cornered two to three wide at the top of the stretch and was eased home to the finish.
