Footnotes
WISE UP broke in a step at the start brushing FRIZZANTE, showed the way in hand just off the inside and then along the inside, came under urging at the five-sixteenths under challenge from WHITTINGTON PARK to the outside, took the inside route into upper stretch, drew off under a drive to prevail. VALENTINIAN coaxed from the gate, chased along the inside early on and then tipped out three wide with seven and a half furlongs to run, forcing out NEW MAGIC and also to steady briefly twice, chased four then three wide coming under encouragement with three-eighths to run, angled four to five wide into upper stretch, proved no match for the top one, ran on to secure the place honors. WHITTINGTON PARK four then three wide into the first turn, attended the leader from the outside three then two wide applying little pressure save through his presence, came under light coaxing issuing a challenge for command midway on the far turn, got let out spinning two to three wide into upper stretch, weakened in the late stages. FRIZZANTE got brushed at the start while under coaxing by WISE UP, who broke in a step, chased three then two wide coming under prolonged coaxing half a mile from home, angled six wide into upper stretch and tired. TRIDENT HIT raced three wide through the first turn, chased five then four wide coming under urging at the seven-sixteenths, went four wide into upper stretch and tired. NEW MAGIC broke in a step at the start, raced just off the inside into the first turn and tipped out when VALENTINIAN angled off the inside to be three wide with seven and a half furlongs to run and was briefly steadied as that rival made his way directly in front, then steadied briefly again soon after, chased four paths off the inside down the backstretch and then three wide through the far turn coaxed along from the seven-sixteenths, angled in to take the inside route into upper stretch and was eased home to the finish.
