Footnotes
ITS TIME TO SHINE was away alertly taking control from the onset, dictated the pace while hounded outside through the turn, spurted away from rivals at the top of the lane and was well rationed early on to have something left holding off challengers down the lane. SUMMER COMMANDER had a good trip sitting behind the pacesetter, waited to move inside horses in the second tier around the oval, shifted just outside taking aim on the frontrunner in mid-stretch, switched leads at the furlong marker but could only gain slightly on the winner by the time they hit the wire to be second best. AWESOME CRUSADER kept tabs on the front pair while between runners down the backside, was in tight surroundings keeping pace through the turn, began to extend its stride finding clear running room in the two path in upper stretch and finished up well to win the battle for the show money. EL COHETE shadowed the leader under a long line down the backside, moved in around to turn to bid outside with a quarter mile to go, shifted out to be in the three path in upper stretch and finished up mildly for a minor placing. SECRET THREAT settled near the rear ahead of only one runner down the back straight, took the short way around the turn, shifted out between foes four wide at the quarter pole making a move, angled out further to be six wide at the top of the lane but stalled slightly unable to gain on others in the stretch running. AWESOME BOURBON tracked three deep outside rivals in the beginning, rallied three wide watching the lead duo at the two furlong marker, could not find more down the stretch and finished up one paced to the wire. SHERIF ALI was roused to stay interested while trailing down the backside, caught up to runners while moving three wide outside foes at the three eighths pole, had little impression on the turn and could not offer a rally down the lane. PENNER ASH (IRE) travelled on the rail close to the back of the pack, retreated inside rivals throughout the turn and could not figure in the drive to the wire. THE NEW MAYBE stalked near the rear in the beginning, offered a brief run four wide taking the overland route in midturn, angled out six wide but came up empty in the stretch running.
