ZIPFIRE settled three deep outside foes in mid-pack, started to rally when roused midturn while shifting outside, angled to the five path at the top of the stretch, darted inwards grinding away at the dueling leaders at the furlong marker and came with a run late to edge away for the win in the final seventy yards. TENTOMIDNIGHT was nudged on chasing the pacesetter outside down the back straight, began to inch up when urged for more at the quarter pole to loom menacingly four wide at the top of the lane but could only finish up mildly late to just win the photo for the runners up placing right at the finish line on the nod. LINDA'S OPAL was quick out of the gate to assume the lead down the backstretch on the fence, continued to dictate terms around the turn, spurted away briefly when hounded outside in upper stretch but needed more late in deep stretch and faded nearing the wire to just miss holding the place share. SCAT HUMOR was unhurried at the back of the pack three deep at the half mile marker, moved around foes three wide at the three eighths marker, shifted to the four path for the drive to the wire and finished with intent to be involved for but on the losing end of a three way photo for second money. SULTRY SOPHIE was in the middle of the pack between rivals down the backside, had to be throttled back when in tight quarters at the half mile pole, trailed for a moment with three furlongs from home and could only finish up evenly on the fence down the lane. LET'S BE FIRST broke out and a step slow in the beginning to trail early, improved on the fence at the half, had a better forward position going into the turn, kept pace around the bend and was in the mix for a share just behind the contesting duo in upper stretch but had little to give and faltered in the final furlong.
