Footnotes
SWINGING MANDY emerged between horses to set the pace into the first turn, continued setting a soft pace down the backside under little pressure at the half, still was moving comfortably unchallenged around the final turn and with a well rationed ride had just enough in the late stages to hold on for the win by a diminishing margin at the wire. WAR PAINTER rated kindly, nestled on the fence behind the front runner in the early stages, swung out three wide in upper stretch with her sights on the leader, chased the winner determinedly home down the lane but did make it a race late when closing in at the finish line. ASPEN DAWN had a stalking trip ahead of only the troubled starter in the beginning, made little headway along the back straight, offered a sharp turn of foot three wide circling around foes at the five sixteenths pole, swooped widest in the six path for the stretch drive and was finishing up well enough, gradually getting to the front two late but settled for a clear third in the end. SACCHARINE rated on the rail in mid-pack in the first turn, kept pace on the fence in the third flight down the backside, held position going the short way around on the far turn and finished up evenly in the stretch to hold for a minor role when crossing the finish line. FLYING BLACK travelled three wide on the outside of rivals in midfield, tracked in the third flight outside foes down the backstretch, made a brief move at the three eighths pole sensing a soft tempo but faded five wide with others on each side at the furlong pole. VOICE FROM ABOVE sat just outside off the pacesetter into the initial bend, was content still sitting just off the leader while outside another foe along the backside, came under a ride three wide midway around the final bend but was going in the wrong direction and emptied out between horses by mid-stretch. SHE MAKES A POINT had an awkward beginning trailing after the start, lagged at the rear making no progression down the backside, continued at the rear with no run on the last of two turns and never had any rally in the stretch drive as well.
