Footnotes
OSCAR JOY had an ideal set up, isolated at the back, watching a four pronged battle up top down the backside, ranged up passing a rival inside on the fence at the three eighths marker, opted for an outside route going three wide closing in boldly at the quarter pole. was gaining three wide on the softened up frontrunner outside at the top of the lane, swept on past with little resistance inside the eighth pole and drew away for the convincing win at the wire. KOKOMO had a slim lead holding the rail position with a company of three outside forcing the pace, edged away from all the speed foes one by one taking the short way through the turn, braced for the challenge outside by the eventual winner in mid-stretch but had no answer and still managed to run on gamely to be a solid but distant second in the end. WAR OF DESTINY forced the issue outside, four deep along the backside, continued to duel outside rivals through the turn, had little left and could not go with the top pair while in the two path straightening out for the drive and stayed on well enough to be a clear third in the end. FOUR STRONG WINDS broke in at the start, quickly recovered to prompt three wide with horses on either side down the backstretch, was the first of the foursome up top to weaken at the three furlong marker, regressed around the bend to see the field entering the stretch but did find some late energy to come back on in deep stretch to garner a minor role at the finish line. GROOT pressed the pace in the two path between three others down the back straight, still battled on between with five sixteenths to go, was the second runner of the foursome to give way up top by the quarter pole aroundthe bend and folded on the rail by upper stretch.
