Footnotes
HELL BENT travelled on the rail stalking ahead of only one runner in the beginning, galloped along, rating kindly in mid-pack on the fence down the backside, made little impact three wide on the final bend, shifted inside slightly to be two wide entering the stretch, found another gear when urged for more turning for home and grinded away down the lane to just get up in the shadow of the wire for the victory. RAPTURE BAY took this field on the rail into the first turn, set the pace while hounded outside down the backside, edged clear of the outside early speed foe with five sixteenths to run, still was moving well, in control in the two path by mid stretch but could not find more nearing the wire and was caught in the final few jumps for the win. WINSTON BLUE had a good spot outside a rival in the second flight watching the engaged pair, travelled three wide on the far turn making a move by the quarter pole narrowing the gap, shifted out in the five path with a chance at the top of the lane and finished up gradually outside, gaining on the lead pair late but just could not get there in time. MODDASSAH was allowed to settle on the fence seeing the field on the first turn, lagged behind rivals down the backside, moved closer to the pack when entering the final turn, crept up saving ground through the far turn, had a good rail rally to be in the thick of things inside at the eighth pole but could not continue the run and stalled in deep stretch to hold for a minor placing. FAST AND READY had a stalking role in the two path between foes early on, made a brief move around horses four wide from the three eighths pole until the quarter marker, shifted out to be six wide in upper stretch and had some energy left showing late interest in deep stretch. JAY BIRD broke in at the start, moved around foes five wide into the first turn to press the issue just outside up front along the back straight, was asked left handed to keep up to the leader who was getting away with a quarter mile remaining, shifted out three wide for the stretch run but yielded between runners at the furlong marker. GENDRAGON was brushed inside at the start, had a stalking role going four wide on the outside in the initial turn, travelled three deep along the backside but was shuffled back a few positions, made no movement three wide through the final bend and could only pass a tired runner in deep stretch outside. LEOPARDI had an inside trip in the second pairing in the early stages, tried to maintain position inside in the two path through the far turn when rivals outside were starting to make a move, could not hold off foes when giving way by the quarter pole and emptied out in the stretch drive.
