SIMCOE battled determinedly on the rail down the back straight with an outside opening on the other rivals in the race, slugged it out on the fence under a faster quarter around the bend, drifted out slightly when urged by a left handed crop a sixteenth from home, was quickly gathered up and under a vigorous ride, resurged late to prevail in a gallant stretch drive. WAR STRATEGY hooked up right from the get-go to duel outside for the front end setting a brisk pace along the backside, had a head advantage outside while quickening the tempo around the turn, shifted to the three path between rivals fighting down the lane, was brushed by the winner inside while driving to the finish line around the sixteenth pole and tenaciously fought to the wire, capturing the place share but nosed out at the wire. I'M A GAMBLER (IRE) had an ideal set up when isolated a few lengths behind the embattled pair down the backside under a quick pace, inched up when urged right handed midway around the bend, shifted out four wide in upper stretch to loom boldly on the outside when switching leads inside the furlong marker, appeared to poke its head in front for a moment around the sixteenth pole but could not finish the job and was out gamed in deep stretch. OKIRO had little early speed to trail this compact field along the backside, lagged behind through the turn making no gain, angled out in the five path turning for home but could not get into contention in the stretch running. RIDERS CLAIM OF FOUL#6 WAR STRATEGY AGAINST #5 SIMCOE DOWN THE STRETCH WAS DISALLOWED
