Footnotes
HARPER CITY shifted in early, settled off the pace moving up some heading into the turn inside on or just off the rail, was off the fence coming to the quarter pole and steadied ever so slightly past that marker before being guided back to the rail at the top of the stretch, gained steadily inside, bid up the rail seventy yards out taking a narrow lead and prevailed. GOLDEN TEST broke outwardly, set the early tempo from off the inside, was overtaken after the opening quarter, pressed the new leader into the turn, retook the lead nearing the five-sixteenths, led them into upper stretch, was overtaken again at that point, kept on willingly to re-bid seventy yards from home but was outfinished while maintaining the place. OK SPEEDY settled off the pace switching out off the inside, swung six deep turning for home, moved out a couple paths further as rivals shifted about in front, finished best of all to be gaining outside despite drifting in a bit but was too late. BACK RIVER broke in the air, moved forward keenly up the backstretch steadying on heels about the nine-sixteenths, shifted in to the rail to advance past a rival then was guided out early on the turn continuing to advance three to four wide, came into upper stretch with momentum and aim, took the lead at that point, could not sustain the effort and lost the lead past the sixteenth pole and faded. SMART ALMASTY was coaxed from the start gaining forward position stalking in behind the leading pair, chased from between foes two to three wide late on the turn, came out a bit in upper stretch, was carried in a bit in mid- to late-stretch, ran on evenly. IMPERIAL STAR was urged forward inside from the start, took the lead after the opening quarter, set the pace shadowed by a foe, was challenged and overtaken early to midway on the turn, shifted outside the new leader at the top of the stretch, was five wide coming to the eighth pole and continued to weaken. GIL'S FOLLY lacked early speed, saved ground on the turn, came out a bit for the drive, was never near enough to threaten.
