Footnotes
SO CALLED VACATION had the lead inside in the beginning, remained up front by a narrow margin while shadowed outside down the backstretch, relinquished the lead on the rail with three furlongs still to run, was urged right-handed coming back on by the quarter pole, bid inside in the three path at the top of the lane, was resilient in the stretch resurging to regain the front at the furlong pole, drifted out in the late running but was clear of rivals at the wire. SMART ALMASTY travelled three wide tracking the lead twosome in the beginning, under a tight hold pulled the rider to the leaders three deep on the outside by the half, bid three wide outside through the last bend, angled out five wide dueling outside for the front in upper stretch but was outkicked by the re-rallying winner in the last sixteenth of a mile. PET SOUNDS settled in the two path keeping a close eye on the lead duo, rated kindly in the second flight between horses along the backside, crept closer on the far turn when roused for more between foes at the three eighths pole, shifted out six wide for the stretch drive, was no threat to the front pair in the lane but finished up well to be a clear third at the wire. LONHRO'S GAMBLE was unhurried trailing in the early stages, made little movement along the backside sharing the tail end inside at the half, saved ground through the final turn, started to make a rally when urged at the quarter pole, skimmed the fence in upper stretch and finished with good late energy for a minor placing. HEARD A GHOST loped along content to track the leader outside in the beginning, took closer order to prompt the pace outside down the backstretch, was roused seizing command briefly between foes at the three eighths pole until the quarter marker, continued to fight up top in tight vying for the lead with rivals on both sides turning for home, gave way up top to the lead pair shifting out at the eighth pole and faded further in deep stretch between rivals. BLUE MONTJEU was floated out five wide on the initial bend, settled into stride three deep in mid-division along the back straight, lost ground to the leaders while three wide outside challengers on the last turn and failed to fire in the stretch running between foes. PERFECT PLAY travelled four wide near the rear on the first turn, stalked ahead of only one other rival along the backside, could not get into gear relegated to the back of the pack with a quarter mile still to run and could only manage to pass a straggler in deep stretch. DANCING IN RIO edged up of the fence using the rail position to sit in midfield by the half, offered a mild run at the three eighths pole, shifted out in the two path a quarter mile from home but was going the wrong way and folded by the furlong marker.
