SMART ALMASTY had the rail in mid-division in the early going, closed the gap on the fence by the half, shifted out three wide at the three furlong pole uncorking a run, was full of run four wide straightening out for the drive, powered past the leader with a furlong to go and held safe keeping to the task in the late going. PET SOUNDS tracked the frontrunner on the rail in the beginning, continued to watch the loose leader down the backstretch, moved in at the quarter pole with the eventual winner outside doing the same, shifted out four wide turning for home, kept on coming down the lane but could get to the winner late to be a non-threatening runner up at the finish line. GUARD OF HONOUR seized command from the onset, increased the margin up front travelling well along the backside, slowed the tempo down trying to get a breather still in control through the far turn, was collared outside by the winner at the furlong marker, offered little resistance inside and faded inside in deep stretch but still held for the show money at the wire. PERFECT PLAY was allowed to settle at the back of the pack in the early parts of this race, rallied going by a rival on the rail at the three eighths pole, continued to move steadily on the fence through the turn, picked up another foe inside at the top of the stretch and finished up evenly to be a fringe player in the end. LONHRO'S GAMBLE stalked three wide outside into the first turn, improved entering the backstretch outside horses to track the pacesetter outside by the half, was hard ridden but could not go with rivals on either side who making a run midway on the final bend, had little left for the drive and yielded three wide in upper stretch. DIVA'S GHOST was in between rivals in the two path stalking the leader in the first of two turns, settled inside horses in mid-pack along the back straight, was roused for more offering no response being passed inside at the three-furlong pole and could not get involved in the stretch running.
