Footnotes
GAS ME UP was unhurried having a stalking trip ahead of a couple runners in the early stages, shifted out taking closer order six wide full of run at the quarter pole, moved in to be a menacing presence by the furlong marker, seized control with a sixteenth left to run and under a busy ride had enough to hold of the late outside challenger nearing the wire. WYOMING BILL was under a hold ahead of only one rival down the backside, kept pace making little progression through the turn, swung out widest getting clear run at the three sixteenths marker in the eight path and was coming on late but just could not get to the winner in time. TWIN CITY had in inside tracking trip keeping a close eye on the front twosome who had it to themselves early, moved in narrowing the margin four wide at the quarter pole, fought on gamely dueling up front in the four path at the furlong marker, was no match for the front two in deep stretch but did dig in late to secure the show award at the finish line. CRUDEN BAY had a stalking position on the rail in the third tier down the backside and throughout the turn, closed in smartly by the five sixteenths pole in hand, loomed three wide splitting horses at the top of the lane, seized command briefly between foes with a furlong left to go but needed more in the late stages and stalled in the final seventy yards to settle on the fringes in the end. LUCKY SCORE was pinched slightly on the break, settled into stride seeing the field along the backside, lagged well behind the group around the bend, caught up to rivals while on the fence in upper stretch, shifted out off the tiring early leaders at the eighth pole making a move and finished up with good late energy on the fence trying to get a minor placing in the end. PUBLIC SECTOR (GB) was on the outside of another in the third flight with the field strung out down the backside, edged up closer through the turn to be in with a chance four wide behind rivals straightening out for the drive, lacked room with three sixteenths still to go but finished up willingly in the late stages when having clear run in deep stretch. PIPER'S FACTOR had a narrow advantage on the inside down the backstretch, still had his head in front setting a brisk tempo around the turn, was collared outside by a wall of runners at the three sixteenths pole, offered little resistance by the furlong marker and folded inside runners at the sixteenth pole. WAR STRATEGY battled outside down the backstretch, continued to prompt the fast pace outside around the turn, still was in the mix up top clinging to the lead in the two path at the three sixteenths pole, had little left late and faltered between foes in the last sixteenth of a mile. MASON'S GAMBLE was in the second flight outside another down the backside, still remained paired up on the turn watching the lead two fight up top, shifted out five wide in with a chance for a share turning for home but had no rally with runners on both sides by mid-stretch.
