Footnotes
MISS DEMANDING had the lead narrowly between runners entering the backstretch, shook loose for a clear advantage midway on the turn, kept finding more when called upon on the fence down the stretch and held safe under a well rationed ride albeit by a diminishing margin at the wire. MADAME OBEY had a good trip along the backside alone watching the contesting trio, edged up on the rail starting to make a move at the three furlong pole, shifted out posing the main threat three wide between foes in upper stretch, was gaining gradually with every stride on the winner in the late running but could not get there in time. SALT was allowed to settle close to the back in the early going, began to get into gear two wide between foes with a quarter mile to run, angled out five wide in full flight straightening out for home and was moving fast in the final furlong but could not run down the front two in close finish at the wire. LUNCH WITH BERNIE settled in the middle of the pack having the rail position down the backside, inched closer by the quarter pole, moved out four wide in the mix for a piece of the prize straightening out for home and finished up evenly to the wire to be a fringe player in the end. SHE LOVES broke a step slow to trail the field down the back straight, moved in on the turn closing the gap smartly on the pack by the quarter pole, shifted out five wide at the head of the lane but could only manage to pass weary runners in the final furlong. WILL REIGN pressed the issue inside down the back straight, could not match strides with the winner outside at the five sixteenths pole and flattened out just off the fence in the two path by mid-stretch. ONTARIO had a stalking role ahead of a couple of rivals in the early stages, took the short path through the turn but made little headway on rivals and lacked a rally two wide in the stretch running. SOUPERGIRL prompted the pace three deep in the beginning, took back off the lead duo at the half, tracked the leaders outside on the turn, could not go with others making a move at the quarter pole and emptied out widest in the seven path turning for home.
