Footnotes
SIMCOE shook clear at the five eighths pole after battling for the top spot leaving the chute, rolled along smoothly unopposed around the turn, increased the margin up front well in control by mid-stretch and was kept to the task to safely prevail for the gate to wire win. VICTORY ACHIEVED had the fence watching the front duo contest the pace after the start, settled on the rail in the third flight making little headway on the leader throughout the turn, was taken a hold of briefly for a few strides at the quarter pole inside a runner, shifted out three wide straightening for home, could not challenge the winner who was long gone with a furlong to go but closed in belatedly to be a clear second at the finish line. I'M A GAMBLER (IRE) was moving four deep outside horses in mid-division along the backside in the beginning, dropped back to co-trail on the inside at the half, crept up mildly saving all the ground running around the bend and rallied sharply on the fence to get up late and capture the four-way photo for the show award. PLAYMEA TUNE lacked early foot to trail the field down the backside, lagged behind the group making little run around the bend, swung out widest in the seven path for the drive to the wire but could only pass weary foes in the final furlong. OLD CHESTNUT was hustled inside intent on trying to secure the lead after the gate opened up, could not quicken with the front runner in the backstretch deciding on a tracking role at the five furlong pole instead, chased the winner in vain around the bend and faded between horses in the last sixteenth of a mile losing a few positions in deep stretch. ICE CHOCOLAT (BRZ) travelled between rivals three wide in the middle of the field early on, stalked near the rear outside a runner throughout the turn making little gain on others and lacked a finish down the lane having the four path in the stretch running. JUNIOR HOT SHOT was part of the group in mid-pack settling in the two path between horses early on the backside, had an outside spot in the third tier by the half, was scrubbed for more at the quarter pole trying to hold position, shifted out five wide for the drive but had little left and folded by the furlong marker. The originally-posted final time was triggered by interference with the timing beam and the new time was derived following review.
