Footnotes
MANSETTI was prominent early without much urging while kept off the rail, moved to the lead inside a foe passing the wire the first time, was shadowed by that rival dictating terms up the backstretch still off the fence, opened up near the three-eighths, gradually widened on the turn and when put to urging coming into upper stretch, held safe while kept to the task. TOM'S MAGIC broke just a bit awkwardly, settled four to five wide between foes off the pace through the first turn and up the backstretch, lost position into the far turn, angled seven wide turning for home, moved out a bit in upper stretch then back in, finished strongest but was too little too late to match the winner while securing the place. NOTORIOUS GANGSTER bumped a rival just lightly after the start, steadied outside the six- and one-half when in tight along the rail and switched out, moved forward again between runners two to three deep up the backstretch, raced in behind lacking room to the far turn, was urged along past the three-eighths, finished well to improve position inside rivals. SCORCHING came out after the start, had the early lead while kept very wide, ceded the lead after a quarter just shadowing the new leader and eventual winner from outside still about four deep, chased in earnest on the far turn and was asked for more late on that bend, proved no match but kept on for the minor award. DEWOLF broke inwardly, was coaxed forward but caught five then four wide through the first turn just off the pace, stalked up close into the far turn, was asked past the five-sixteenths, ran on but needed more. FABER was forced in at the star then bumped into a rival, tucked in settling at the rear inside a rival, took closer order into the far turn just off the fence, waited briefly in behind foes at the quarter pole, moved out further for room coming into upper stretch, tried to navigate traffic shifting a bit rallying in behind runners but steadied sharply nearing the wire. WATSONVILLE RED was bumped after the start, settled outside a rival at the rear, advanced on the far turn between runners, angled six wide at the top of the stretch, finished with interest but needed more. WILLIAM T was lightly bumped at the start, settled inside off the pace into the first turn but switched outside of foes three wide passing the six- and one-half, continued between runners three to four wide mid-pack into and on the far turn, moved out seven wide in upper stretch, lacked the needed late kick. NO TIME was forwardly-placed heading to the first turn caught four wide shifting in a bit on that bend, tracked in behind the leaders mostly two to three wide, weakened in the stretch. RUNAWAY AGAIN was forced in at the start then bumped into a rival, settled between foes three to four wide mid-division early, began dropping back four to five deep on the far turn shifting in a bit late on that bend, continued to weaken. SEDBURYS GHOST was caught five wide into the first turn, taken back late on that bend about the six- and one-half and moved out seven wide, continued about seven wide into upper stretch still toward the back, failed to rally. MYTHICAL MAN was forced out and bumped a rival just after the start, was forwardly-placed outside and between foes into the first turn, shifted in past the seven-eighths, pursued the leaders from inside, saved ground through the far turn but started to drop back, faded in the stretch. ASHLEY'S ARCHER broke out a bit, was caught six wide moving forward outside foes mid-pack into the first turn, pursued relatively unchanged mid-division up the backstretch, retreated at the seven-sixteenths. The originally-posted final time was triggered by interference with the timing beam and the new time was derived following review.
