Footnotes
SPELLCHECK had a slim advantage on the inside in the early going, edged away for a clear lead at the three furlong pole continuing to move strongly unchallenged through the turn and was kept to the task down the stretch to comfortably win in front-running fashion. LET'S GO SOUPER was all alone settling into a good rhythm watching the lead three runners at the half mile marker with the field strung out, rallied on the fence at the quarter pole, angled out three wide posing the only threat straightening out for home but could not find more down the stretch to get to the winner in the late stages. BERTHA had the fence position inside two others while stalking near the back of the pack, made little movement taking the short way around on the turn, was urged on at the five sixteenths pole, scraped paint rallying inside foes in upper stretch and finished up well enough to win the show battle inside late while being a non threatening third to the front pair at the wire. PHAST PHOEBE stalked three deep close to the back of the pack down the backstretch, was scrubbed on with five sixteenths from home picking the bit up smartly around the bend, angled out four wide coming to the furlong pole gathering more speed and finished up willingly in the late stages to just miss out on the battle outside for the third place share. CALL ME KAYKAY was unhurried seeing the field at the half, came under a ride outside another making little impact around the oval, swung out widest in the six path driving to the wire and showed some good late interest passing a few tired foes in the last eighth of a mile. MANIFESTING pressed the pace outside in the early going, could not quicken with the frontrunner by the three furlong marker, chased the winner in vain through the turn and yielded between rivals at the furlong marker. SYMPATICO settled near the rear in the two path with horses on either side down the back straight, was asked for more midway around the bend getting little response on the turn, shifted out five wide at the top of the lane but could not get involved in the stretch running. JINX ME had a good spot isolated along the backside watching the engaged duo up front, was roused closing the gap on the leader three wide at the quarter pole, shifted out four wide turning for home but had nothing to give for the drive and faltered in upper stretch.
