Footnotes
TOM'S MAGIC got away well but was taken in hand settling off the leaders outside and near mid-pack under some rating, moved rapidly early up the backstretch to take command and force the pace from the five-eighths, was headed by the inside foe settling just on the flank of that one entering the far turn, retook the lead coming to the quarter pole, kicked clear in mid-stretch, met an outside challenger and held that rival to prevail. BOREALIS TRAIL was well-placed early inside but had to steady slightly on heels heading into the first of three turns, tracked from inside, came out in upper stretch, made a mild bid but couldn't quite get to the winner and was held off by that one but clearly second best. FABER tucked in early, lacked room and was shuffled back a bit at the five-eighths, moved out a bit soon after, advanced while coming four wide past the quarter pole, proved no match for the top pair but was best of the rest. ARISTELLA settled at the rear inside, swung seven wide turning for home, kicked on mildly outside. D'AURUM came in at the start, bothered a foe slightly, moved forward inside and soon was clear to set the tempo, was overtaken up the backstretch, regained a narrow lead about the seven-sixteenths, dueled on the far turn and into upper stretch then faltered and faded. WATSONVILLE RED settled outside a foe toward the back, advanced on the third turn, was five wide passing the quarter pole, evened out in the stretch. SEDBURYS GHOST settled outside off the pace, advanced three to four deep on the third turn, was in range coming to the top of the stretch but flattened out. SCAT GIRL was taken up in the early going soon after the start racing inside, continued inside foes on or just off the rail, was two to three deep leaving the last turn, failed to menace. CIUNAS was prominent early then taken back off the pace and settled in to stalk outside a foe off the leader two to three wide, pressed from between rivals briefly about the five-eighths but soon dropped back, shifted in, saved ground on the third turn, faded.
