MY COVENANT had a clean break getting a head in front between rivals leaving the chute, inched away from the outside rival heading into the turn, disposed of the early speed foe when nudged along beginning to open up at the quarter pole, built up a commanding lead in the two path by the furlong marker and was kept to the task in the late drive to hold sway for the gate to wire score. HIGHWAYTOTHEMOON was allowed to settle into stride on the fence seeing the tightly knit group down the backside, saved all the ground on the turn, picked up the bit when called upon at the quarter pole, skimmed the fence gathering momentum and determinedly chased in earnest inside through the stretch but did not have enough late to get to the frontrunning winner. MEILANI brushed the inside of the gate on the break, was under a very snug hold relaxing kindly with the rider sitting chilly drafting behind the engaged duo, sat poised on the fence drafting behind the leader on the turn, shifted out three wide posing a threat briefly at the top of the stretch but evened out by the furlong marker and just lasted at the wire for the show money. REB FIVE broke out on the start, settled on the outside in the second flight off the engaged duo, was driven on three wide midway through the turn then was asked for more under right-handed urging at the quarter pole but could make no headway, swung out widest to the five path straightening out for home and ran on gradually outside of rivals settling on the fringes while almost getting with one late last push for third. Z Z'S veered out on the start, contently sat outside hounding the pacesetter down the backstretch, was ridden on for more in midturn but the leader was slipping away by the quarter pole, angled out to the four path for the stretch run but had little in reserve and faded with runners on both sides at the furlong marker.
