Footnotes
VANITY was tucked in on the rail just behind the pacesetter, had a nice set up on the inside of another watching the engaged duo down the backside, was shuffled back momentarily behind the lead three rivals at the quarter pole, found a seam in the four-path getting clear run, moved in on the contesting trio still on the incorrect lead at the furlong pole, switched lead finding another gear a the seventy yard marker and drew off with authority in deep stretch. PHAROAH'S AFFAIR was forwardly positioned on the outside in the second flight, started to rally circling around horses three wide at the quarter pole, bid for the lead at the top of the lane, seized command briefly at the furlong marker but could not fend off the overpowering late kick by the winner in the final seventy yards. ARETHA travelled three wide close to the back end, was hard held making little movement with the tempo slackening down the backside, began to lengthen stride three wide with a quarter mile to go, moved out widest to the five path for the drive to the wire and could only finish up mildly to be a non-threatening third. SO KATE had the lead utilizing the inside post on the rail, maintained a slim advantage but slowed the pace down considerably at the half, relinquished the top spot to an outside runner at the five sixteenths pole, tried to counter still in the mix skimming the fence turning for home but could find something in reserve late and faded inside rivals the last sixteenth of a mile holding for a minor share. PROPHETIC DEBBY (IRE) settled near the rear just off the fence, made no progression on the rail along the backside, saved ground but could not make any gains around the final bend and lacked a rally in the three path in the stretch running. ONE SWEET GIRL hounded the pacesetter outside early on, took even closer order flanking the leader outside down the backside, moved in two wide getting a head in front midway through the far turn, had the two-path holding on narrowly between foes in upper stretch but wilted with runners on either side in the final furlong. NOCHE DE DAMAS was in tight having to be checked between runners under the wire for the first time, trailed around the first turn, remained at the tail end down the back straightaway, had no response two wide when asked for more at the five sixteenths pole and could not get involved in the four path down the lane.
