FRACEN MACHO had an ideal set up nestled on the rail watching the engaged duo along the backside, was nursed along drafting behind the pack setter through the bend, shifted out two wide coming to the leader taking the corner, pounced at the eighth pole for the lead and under a hard fought late stretch drive got the nose down right at the wire for the victory from a stubborn inside rival. BACHELOR PAD pressed the pace inside initially, cleared away moving comfortably up top by the half, rambled on unchallenged around the oval moving well within himself, skimmed the fence holding up front in upper stretch, was headed outside by the winner with a furlong still to run and fought stubbornly to the wire inside but missed the head bob losing the tight photo for the win. PERFECT CRIME had runners on either side galloping along close to the back end, was a joint last inside running two wide throughout the bend, stayed inside runners straightening out for the drive and ran on belatedly to be a distant third to the front pair who had it to themselves in the final furlong. INDY ONE had a head in front outside in the beginning, relinquished the lead to an inside rival having a tracking role at the half, chased the pacesetter two wide between runners making little progress, shifted to the three path but could not match strides with the quickening lead duo turning for home and faded between runners late losing a position. RAPID GREY travelled three deep sitting in mid-pack, continued a three wide journey on the turn making a brief move inching up closer at the quarter pole, had the four path in the mix at the top of the stretch but lacked a finishing kick in the final furlong. PROUD RONIN was well back at the tail end down the backside, co-trailed going three wide outside rivals around the oval, swung out widest to the five path for the stretch drive but could not close in to be a factor in the late going.
