RUNNIN' ROCKET was under a snug hold sitting just back off the leader on the fence, glided up moving out to the two path splitting foes at the quarter pole, posed the main threat three wide between horses in upper stretch, grinded away on the outside under left handed encouragement through the lane and got the better of the stubborn frontrunner in the final seventy yards. CRUMLIN LAD was away alertly clearing to the lead down the backstretch, rolled along unopposed going around the bend, continued on travelling comfortably in command in upper stretch, dug in when the winner was bearing down at the furlong pole but gave way grudgingly inside in the last seventy yards. WAR BOMBER (IRE) chased the pace down the backstretch and throughout the bend, could not narrow the margin on the frontrunner when urged for more at the quarter pole, remained in the mix for a share between foes four wide at the top of the lane, could not keep up to the front pair by mid-stretch and finished up well enough to last outside for the third place share in the end. IRONSTONE was very rank early on fighting the rider while stalking inside another, settled into stride by the half, kept pace inside runners throughout the turn, shifted out with a quarter mile remaining, battled for the show award with the lead duo having it to themselves at the furlong pole and was outkicked while inside a challenger for the show money in deep stretch. SUMMER COMMANDER had the outside position while sitting in mid-pack, was hard ridden three wide outside horses on the turn making little headway, moved out to the five path turning for home but had no finish to give in the last eighth of a mile. BLAZING BUCCHERO shared the back end on the outside in the beginning, could see the field by the half, was well back on the turn unable to get into gear and failed to fire just off the fence in the stretch running.
