Footnotes
HAPPY VALENTINE tracked the pacesetter between horses at the start, contently dropped back to last at the half, re-engaged splitting foes smartly at the three furlong pole, vied for the lead with rivals on either side throughout the turn, edged away up front at the top of the lane and was kept to the task mildly to hold safe for the win at the finish line. LUZ DE LA LUNA was off a step slow to trail in the beginning, moved up on the rail pressing the pace on the leaders inside flank at the five furlong marker, conceded the fence being reined back at the half, could see the field when shuffled back to the rear into the turn, waited to move saving ground watching the embattled trio around the bend, shifted out three wide posing the only threat in upper stretch, determinedly chased the winner home closing in late but could not get there at the wire. PLEASURE'S GOLD hopped slightly on the break, tracked the top two runners four deep along the backside, took closer order prompting the issue three wide throughout the turn, angled out five wide for the drive but could not go on with the leaders by upper stretch and did show grit late to come back on to win the show money award in deep stretch. RED SAMURAI was fractious prior to the loading of the race, seized control just off the rail leaving the chute when nudged on for the lead, continued up front on the fence while hounded outside by runners through the turn, relinquished the top spot on the rail in upper stretch offering no resistance and wilted inside runners at the furlong pole and was not persevered with late.
