LASTING SILENCE moved to the lead before the first turn, set the pace from inside, drew clear, held sway while kept to task. HEMLO GOLD settled outside off the pace three to four wide, advanced on the far turn still three to four deep, made no headway late but was second best. PALIO tracked inside just in behind and off the leader, went evenly and made no bid. WALTER ME LAD broke very awkwardly and steadied, shifted in and moved up inside then switched out near mid-pack settling off the leaders, advanced outside on the far turn fanning five wide into upper stretch, lacked the needed late kick. PENNER ASH (IRE) brushed with a foe at the start, was soon taken back when in a hair tight and shifted in, saved ground both turns racing at the back, was never a threat. CHAIRMAN BOB had bumps both sides at the start, settled outside at the rear, angled five wide turning for home, was never near enough to threaten. CHILL THE J bumped a rival at the start, attended or pressed the pace from outside, dropped back late on the far turn and faded. EVER DANGEROUS left the gate without the rider, went to the lead racing wide, was declared a non-starter. FOLLOWING A STEWARDS' INQUIRY INTO THE START IT WAS DETERMINED NUMBER EIGHT, EVER DANGEROUS, DID NOT RECEIVE A FAIR BEGINNING, AND WOULD BE DECLARED A NON-STARTER WITH ALL WAGERS ON THAT RUNNER TO BE REFUNDED. This race had a timing discrepancy or malfunction and was re-timed using video technology to arrive at the most accurate time.
